Update as of April 29, 2020

Please remember that ALL classes are engaged with remote learning- this includes Health/PE and ALL electives! Please see those individual teacher's websites for information/schedules.

Update as of April 27, 2020:

Mr. Martin has indicated that there are >100 6th and 7th graders on Track 4 who have not yet registered for electives for the next school year. Info is on the main PHMS website and can be found here and here. PLEASE direct all elective questions to Mr. Martin at jwmartin@wcpss.net

Beginning April 13, all WCPSS year-round schools will follow a traditional school calendar for as long as schools remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can find more details regarding this change here.

For remote learning, the expectation is that beginning Monday, April 13 ALL students will be logging on and checking each of their core teachers' websites linked at the top of this website (AND for Case, Carson, and Conder their Google Classroom; For Ms. Newkirk, go to Classcraft or her website to add her google classroom) EVERY DAY. Students should also be checking their WCPSS email daily. This is a primary means of communication between teacher and student.

Please note that we are NOT providing a specific daily schedule for students to follow (for example math from 9-10, ELA from 10-11). We understand that many households have numerous students at various grade levels and in different schools and may have many other obligations. So it is up to the student and their family to determine what schedule works best for their household. That is why it is critical that every student visits each teacher's website each day to make sure they have all assignments.

One of our Team Phoenix moms, Tara Lane, has created a video of an effective post-it schedule she made for her boys which you can watch here. If you have any questions on how to create or implement the schedule feel free to email her at lane9059@bellsouth.net. Thanks Tara!

Teachers are available for office hours each week as well as providing live online learning opportunities. PLEASE NOTE that the live sessions are NOT required; new material is NOT being taught live. However, this is an opportunity FOR STUDENTS* to ask questions live and to get reinforcement for material that has already been taught. A table with office hours as well as live teaching opportunities is below.

OH: Office Hours via email unless otherwise specified; this is not class; this is an opportunity to ask questions via email for an immediate response.

Live: Opportunity for online teaching; this is NOT new material but review/reinforcement of previously taught material

*Live sessions are intended for students. This is not the platform for parent meetings. If you would like to schedule a meeting with a teacher please email them directly.

To be clear, from April 13 on, ALL STUDENTS are expected to be doing all assignments that are posted by their teachers (unless a specific assignment says otherwise).

The work is no longer optional; this is school!
